Focus and Scope

Health is a broad concept that is subject to individual interpretation. Indicators ranging from one's spiritual wellbeing to an individual's relationship with their environment have been regarded as being determinants of health in different communities.

Therefore, a community's health is a multifaceted and normative concept that is often best understood through direct exposure to individual community members and their environments. Short of direct exposure, WR exposes readers to the first-hand accounts of authors who have had experience within specific communities. In keeping with WR's broad definiton of health, the narratives in the journal raise a diverse range of issues and perspectives pertaining to global health.

In addition to first-hand accounts, the editorial staff is always keen to include research-based works regarding global health issues. Indeed, it is the diversity of articles presented in WR that make it a unique contribution to the literature on global health.
